Event Details

This is an exciting opportunity for all musical aspirants to experience a bit of Berklee at GMI as faculty members from the prestigious Berklee College of Music will conduct masterclasses on the 12th of January. In addition to the masterclasses, Berklee faculty will also be conducting auditions for students for admission into the Berklee programmes on the 13 & 14 of January.

The workshop on the 12th January will feature the following:

Session 1: 2pm
This session will focus on ‘The art and craft of writing music’ by Matthew Nicholl. This topic deals with the process of writing music, beginning with the intent to write and ending with the finished pieces.

Session 2: 3pm
This will be on the topic of ‘The creative environment’ by Berklee Team and will be moderated by Shannon Jacob. It will entail a panel discussion on the programmes, opportunities, and processes that make up the creative environment at Berklee.

Session 3: 4.30pm
The final session will be on ‘Harmonic considerations for improvisation’ by Rick Peckham. It will be a discussion on the use of chord scales to enable performers to improvise with accuracy while maintaining the listener’s interest. Styles will include Jazz, Blues, and Rock.
