What prompted the development of the partnership between BIMM and GMI?

GMI is one of the most notable contemporary music institutes in India, and after we visited the campus last year, we could see similarities between our two institutions. We can draw comparisons between GMI’s Artist Diploma and our degree programmes, creating a pathway for GMI students to BIMM.

What are your hopes for the new partnership with GMI?

We hope that the new partnership will benefit both BIMM and GMI students through knowledge and culture exchanges. We hope that GMI students can make good use of our industry-standard facilities and equipment and learn from some of the best lecturers in the business.

What can BIMM offer to students from India?

BIMM Institute opens doors to the music industry. We have seven colleges based in culturally vibrant cities across the UK (London, Brighton, Manchester, Bristol & Birmingham), Ireland (Dublin) and Germany (Berlin), and we are Europe’s most connected music institute. For over 40 years, we have been encouraging creative freedom and providing real-world industry experiences, thanks to our high-end facilities, incredible lecturers and unrivaled network of connections.

With courses spanning the full spectrum of the music industry—from performance to business, production to event management, and songwriting to marketing—each of our colleges presents an ecosystem where students can realize ambitious projects within their discipline or in collaboration with others. We pride ourselves on our graduate success stories and the transferable skills and professionalism our graduates display.

BIMM Institute is part of BIMM University – a group of colleges that offers music, film and performing arts courses at diploma, degree and masters level.

How does the BIMM x GMI partnership impact the music education landscape in Europe and India?

We hope that this new partnership can help to close the gap between Europe and India primarily through cultural exchange. We are also excited to hold workshops with GMI to continue to develop our teaching and learning.

How can students best prepare themselves to transition to BIMM?

Do your research on which campus would be best for you. Each city has its own unique style. BIMM benefits from an internal transfer scheme, so you can try two different cities during your studies with us. Also, look at the course lists and decide if you want to study joint or single honors. Our academic team can help with this decision during the audition.

This is an hour-long virtual call where you can get friendly advice and feedback on your work. We also hold virtual open days and events throughout the year and have a buddy scheme for international students that runs during induction to make sure you make friends and feel supported when you first arrive. Make the most of freshers week and say ‘yes’ to everything!
