Karolina Beimcik

Karolina Beimcik was born in Poznań, Poland. She is trained as a classical violinist and jazz singer, drawing from many other influences, including Polish and Ukrainian folk music and poetry. In addition to her Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance which she obtained at Queens College in New York City, Beimcik also earned her MA in Cultural Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland. Inspired by the world around her, and fascinated by her fellow human, one of the focuses of Karolina’s work is the function of society and interpersonal relationships. Following her passion, in September 2017 Karolina became artist – in- residence in Marocco where she studied its culture and many different styles of the traditional Moroccan music. In 2019 she became a curator of the project Komeda. Stories Written With Sounds, a project supported by the Polish Ministry of Culture and Cultural Heritage. It consists of a series of musical and visual events related to the 50th anniversary of Krzysztof Komeda’s  death – acclaimed Polish movie composer known for his collaboration with Roman Polanski.

In addition to Karolina Beimcik’s special performing skills, she is an author of many articles. She participated in numerous festivals and conferences, such as  the most prestigious jazz festival in Europe, Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa (Bielsko- Biała, Poland) and the scientific conference  SOUND IN LANDSCAPE – Present status and future strategy for research. Her scientific contribution has been published as a chapter Sound aspects of creating urban space and its perception. She received stipends from Polish Society of Authors and Composers (2014) (2018), (2019) and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2017)

João Bittencourt

João Bittencourt is an accomplished pianist, accordionist, composer, arranger, producer and musical director from Brazil. He has studied popular piano / Jazz with Adriano Souza and with Tomás Improta and he has also studied harmony, arranging and orchestration with Itiberê Zwarg, when he was a member of Itiberê Orquestra Família. In this orchestra he had the opportunity to play together with Hermeto Pascoal in two shows and countless rehearsals. João showcased his talents as a composer, musical director and instrumentalist in more than 40 award winning theatrical shows in the past few years. Since 2016 he has been making musical directions and performing in annual shows at Cia Cirque de La Liberté (Netherlands), bringing together artists from different countries. He conceived and directed the musical direction of the show CARTAS PARA GONZAGUINHA, where he is also a pianist. The show was chosen as the best original musical of 2020 from Rio de Janeiro by the website Musical.Rio. He has also composed the soundtrack for the award winning short-film Bodas, which was selected to more than 20 international festivals, including the parallel exhibition from Cannes Festival 2016. In 2012 he was awarded by the Musical support found by the Cultural Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro to record the CD ‘João Bittencourt Presents Julio Reis’. This album is described by Nelson Freire, a renowned Brazilian classical pianist, as “an extremely important work”. He accompanied the diva singer Bibi Ferreira as an accordionist and substitute pianist for eleven years.

Andrea Fraenzel

Andrea Fraenzel was born and grew up in Gmunden, upper Austria.

She was awarded a first prize in upper Austria’s young musician competition „Prima la musica“ in the category classical guitar solo performance in 1998.

She studied classical guitar and bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and took private lessons with Peter Herbert, Thomas Stempkowski and Juan Garcia-Herreros.

Playing both acoustic and electric bass, she is a versatile artist and has worked with artists of almost every genre: pop, soul, rock, singer/songwriter, jazz, improvised music, world music, classical music.

Andrea is the first musician from Austria who has been accepted into the Contemporary Performance Master’s Program of the Berklee College of Music – Valencia Campus from which she graduated summa cum laude in July 2014 and was honoured with the „Outstanding Scholar Award“.

She appeared on numerous records and has performed in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, Estonia, Norway, Russia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Her credits include Latin jazz vibraphonist Victor Mendoza, Mediterranean fusion singer Christiane Karam and the Austrian pop/soul artist Mary Broadcast.

In 2015 she learned to play bass harmonica and joined “Mundharmonika Quartett Austria” (harmonica quartet Austria). The group is vice-world champion and a regular guest at harmonica festivals throughout Europe.

In 2019 she also worked as musical director for a tribute band to the Woodstock era and played in a contemporary classical opera production which blended the sound of a string orchestra with a jazz trio. This production was shown at prestigious festivals for classical music, “Bregenzer Festspiele” and “Wien Modern”.

Her most recent project is a rock band that played the summer festival “Corona Summer Stage“ in Lower Austria and she performed with her solo project “Sounds of Dea” within the “Vienna Culture Summer” festival of 2020.

Andrea is also an experienced educator. She currently teaches bass and guitar class at Musikwerkstatt, a Viennese music school founded by Ursula Wex member of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

In 2018 and 2020 she taught at Global Music Institute (GMI) in India as bass faculty.

Tarun Balani

Tarun’s music and artistry has been described as “nothing short of remarkable” (AllAboutJazz, USA) and his debut album, Sacred World has said to “Point to the future of jazz in India” (Time Out Magazine, India). Regarded as “one of the finest and most successful jazz drummers and composers to emerge from the country ” (The Wild City ), with his latest releaseDharma on Berthold Records, Tarun delivers yet another fearless, imaginative and heartfelt set of music.

While Tarun continues to feature his genre bending quartet with trumpeter Adam O’Farrill, pianist Sharik Hasan, guitarist Olli Hirvonen across the globe, he also broadens his palette with a gripping new live act as Seasonal Affected Beats in India. On his debut EP 2° as Seasonal Affected Beats, he brings the finesse, controlled volatility and discipline of jazz and merges it with malleability of electronic beats.

An inward and spiritual experience for Tarun, music has had a very special impact on his life, in finding his voice as an artist, and building a career as a composer, performer and an educator. His music is driven by a restless desire to be a holistic artist, and inspired by his Indian roots.

Tarun’s music has been featured on WNYC, MTV, VH1, Coke Studio India, hr2 Kultur, Red Bull Music, and HIT95FM. Tarun endorses Zildjian cymbals and Sensory Percussion.

Shubh Saran

Shubh Saran is a New York-based guitarist and composer who has performed globally with his band. Having grown up in six different countries, his career has been shaped by a mixture of influences. Shubh’s intricate compositions fuse sounds from modern jazz, neo-soul, and rock with classical and contemporary Indian music. On February 10th 2020, he released his latest EP Becoming.

Ujwal Nagar

Ujwal Nagar is a Hindustani classical vocalist. He received initial training in classical music from his mother Guru Urmila Nagar and has also received intensive training from Late Ustad Bashir Ahmad Khan of Sikar. He is currently taking guidance from Pandit Shriram Umdekar and Pandit Somnath Mardur. He has performed at numerous cities in India and abroad and was also awarded the Sahitya Kala Parishad and Central Government scholarship by Government of India for his relentless pursuit of Indian classical music. Although a purist at heart, Ujwal has enriched his musical pursuit by exploring various other genres of music as well. Most notably, his ongoing collaborative work with the group ‘Advaita’ has been greatly appreciated by classical music connoisseurs as well as the world music listeners.

Aditya Balani

Aditya is a multi-faceted guitarist, singer-songwriter, music producer, educator and an Ableton Certified Trainer. Co-founder & director at GMI, he constantly strives to bring innovate teaching methodologies Aditya’s work has been featured on BBC Asia Beats, MTV Coke Studio, Pepsi MTV Indies & BBC Radio to name a few. He has collaborated with artists from around the world including Shubha Mudgal, Khamira, Shilpa Rao, Sudeep Sen, Bellatrix & Mr. Woodnote.

Rohan Ramanna

A music producer, recording engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and entrepreneur, Rohan was the founding partner at India’s Cotton Press Studio and one half of the songwriting/production duo Nicholson//LANDS. He is one of the founding members of the Salvage Audio Collective, a production team operating out of Mumbai’s Island City Studios credited with the much acclaimed and award winning music for movies such as Gully Boy, OTT series such as Yeh Ballet, Guilty on Netflix and many more.

Jay Pei

Jay Pei is a New Delhi based producer and DJ who has pioneered his own unique sound. Building his music and sets upon rhythmic foundations of the 4/4 groove, Jay’s more recent experimentation has been towards integrating cinematic elements into the atmospheric soundscapes of his set. While a lot of his techniques may seem contradictory to the mainstream, they have led him to find and explore his own unique voice.

Krishnamurthy Ramesh

Krishnamurthy is an @ableton certified trainer with a strong passion to teach and spread knowledge about Music Production. Since 2010, Krishnamurthy has been experimenting with various musical styles and expression through sound with Ableton Live. His experience with synthesizers and analog music technology comes from years of working in some of the best studios in India and has given him a very clear understanding of music technology and its implementation. He is also currently a Product Specialist for Ableton, Moog and many more at The Inventory, India’s leading online shop for music technology.

Ashyar Balsara

An Audio Engineer, specialising in Recording, Mixing & Digital Mastering, trained at Abbey Road Institute, London. Currently based out of Island City Studios, Mumbai, Ashyar has a demonstrated portfolio across various genres with independent artists, bands & orchestras. Projects ranging from Independent and Commercial music to Audio shows, Podcasts & Background scores have led to working with notable artists such as Divine, The Fanculos, The Yellow Diary, Amit Trivedi, Sachin & Jigar, Maed in India, Abish Mathew, Kenny Sebastian & many more.  A passionate musician, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who excels under pressure and keeps to strict deadlines. Socially confident, adaptable and thrives from success, he has a keen eye for detail & strives for all artists to achieve their sonic goal.

Guitar - Aditya Balani

Aditya Balani is a multi-faceted guitarist, singer-songwriter, music producer, educator. Co-founder and director at GMI he constantly strives to bring innovative teaching methodologies for his harmony, songwriting, music production and guitar courses. Aditya’s work has transcended stylistic and international borders and has been featured on BBC Asia Beats, MTV Coke Studio, Pepsi MTV Indies, and BBC Radio to name a few. Bass - Andrea Fraenzel

Andrea Fraenzel was born and grew up in Gmunden, upper Austria. She was awarded a first prize in upper Austria’s young musicians competition „Prima la musica“ in the category classical guitar solo performance in 1998. She studied classical guitar and bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and took private lessons with Peter Herbert, Thomas Stempkowski and Juan Garcia-Herreros.

Playing both acoustic and electric bass, she is a versatile artist and has worked with artists of almost every genre: pop, soul, rock, singer/songwriter, jazz, improvised music, world music, classical music – you name it. Andrea is the first musician from Austria who has been accepted into the Contemporary Performance Master’s Program of the Berklee College of Music – Valencia Campus from which she graduated summa cum laude in July 2014 and was honored with the „Outstanding Scholar Award“. Her most recent projects include a tribute band to the era of Woodstock, a contemporary opera production and an electric bass quartet: Andrea served as musical director of the “Children of the Revolution” a tribute band to the music of the late 60s. They starred a 3 days event celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the legendary “Woodstock” festival in Vienna. When having time for music of her own she dedicates it to her singer/songwriter solo project “Sounds of Dea” and her own jazz band.

Andrea is also an experienced educator. She currently teaches bass and guitar class at Musikwerkstatt, a Viennese music school founded by Ursula Wex member of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

João Bittencourt is an accomplished pianist, accordionist, composer, arranger, producer and musical director from Brazil. João showcased his talents as a composer, musical director and instrumentalist in more than 40 award winning theatrical shows in the past few years. He has also composed the soundtrack for the award winning short-film Bodas, which was selected to more than 20 international festivals, including the parallel exhibition from Cannes Festival 2016. In 2012 he was awarded by the Musical support found by the Cultural Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro to record the CD ‘João Bittencourt Apresenta Julio Reis’

He has studied popular piano/Jazz with Adriano Souza and with Tomás Improta and he has also studied harmony, arranging and orchestration with Itiberê Zwarg. He was a private piano and harmony teacher of recognized musicians, like Pedro Carneiro, Luiza Sales, Antonio Guerra, DJ Mam, Plínio Profeta and Letrux. He was the Vice-Director of the Pro Arte Music Semineries for four years.He has played and recorded with various artists and groups, such as Geraldo Azevedo, Victor Biglione, Itiberâ a Orquestra Família, Thaís Gulim, Yassir Chediak, Moyseis Marques and Marjorie Estiano and has recorded on over 10 albums in his professional career.

Art & Music Studies - Suvani Suri

Suvani is an inter-media artist based in Delhi. An alumna of the National Institute of Design, India. She has been an active component of several trans-disciplinary practices, alternating between the roles of an artist, assembler, designer, researcher, sound- producer and educator. Her evolving interests and investigations have been tethered to the auditory spectrum, encountering and speculating its multi-fold possibilities. She has been teaching at the Master’s programme in New Media Design at NID and in recent years, her work has been exhibited at KHOJ Studios, Mumbai Art Room, Soundreasons Festival and the Kochi Muziris Biennale.

Guitar - Abhishek Mittal

Abhishek Mittal is a guitarist, arranger and a composer who has been touring nationally and internationally with his band Submarine In Space. Having played  at NH7 Weekender 2019 alongside Opeth and Kodaline, he is one of the favorite guitar players of Ehsaan Noorani and has done sessions for acts like Euphoria, Mame Khan, Rabbi Shergill and Santa Singh to name a few. Hindustani Music - Ujwal Nagar

Ujwal Nagar is a Hindustani classical vocalist. He received initial training in classical music from his mother Guru Urmila Nagar and has also received intensive training from Late Ustad Bashir Ahmad Khan of Sikar. He is currently taking guidance from Pandit Shriram Umdekar and Pandit Somnath Mardur. He has performed at numerous cities in India and abroad and was also awarded the Sahitya Kala Parishad and Central Government scholarship by Government of India for his relentless pursuit of Indian classical music. Although a purist at heart, Ujwal has enriched his musical pursuit by exploring various other genres of music as well. Most notably, his ongoing collaborative work with the group ‘Advaita’ has been greatly appreciated by classical music connoisseurs as well as the world music listeners.

Jay Pei

Jay Pei is a New Delhi based producer and DJ who has pioneered his own unique sound, enthralling audiences with it across the length of the country through most of 2019. Building his music and sets upon rhythmic foundations of the 4/4 groove, Jay’s more recent experimentation has been towards integrating cinematic elements in to the atmospheric soundscapes of his set.While a lot of his techniques may seem contradictory to the mainstream, they have led him to find and explore his own unique voice. Eleonora Bianchini is a highly accomplished vocalist and voice coach from Italy. She has performed consistently as a vocalist and background vocalist from 2000 onwards in North and South America and in her home country of Italy. Accomplished in the jazz idiom and world music styles, she has performed with a range of international artists including Rossa Passos and Eva Ayllon.
She has taught in the capacity of a voice coach at Lycee Chateaubriand, Officine del Borgo, Accademia Normos, Insieme per Fare, John Coltrane Music School, Soundville and many more music academies. She has played in many festivals with her quintets and quartets across the Americas. She has also recorded on more than 5 albums in her career.
She holds a Professional Music Diploma from the Berklee College of Music as well as a Jazz Degree from Santa Cecicilia Conservatory in Rome and is also a teaching Assistant at the Umbria Jazz Berklee Clinics.

Guitar & Core Music - Subharaj Das Ghosh

Subharaj Das Ghosh brings a unique amalgamation of melodies and relaxation. His career started in Kolkata, training under the legendary Indian guitarist Mr. Amyt Dutt. In 2014, Subharaj joined Berklee College of Music to pursue his education in Music Performance. His time at Berklee moulded him into a more matured musician – having played across genres like Jazz to Electronic and Pop. Subharaj concentrates on keeping a balance between the strength of a player and music theory, to get uniqueness in his sound, similar to how each person develops a vocabulary for a spoken language.

During his time in Boston, Subharaj played as a session musician with various artists and has released his own EP as well. Learned from top guitarists such as Tomo Fujita, Tim Miller, Joe Stump and David Gilmore, Subharaj has been providing private lessons to educate students about the wonderful world of melody and harmony. Currently, he has been working on audio production and arrangements for various jingles, background scores and works in his own capacity as a session musician based out of Mumbai.

Hozaifa Sayed

Hozaifa Sayed is an Ableton & AVID (Pro tools) Certified Instructor who has been working as an audio engineer and music technology educator since 2014. Over the years with experience, he has developed a mastery in teaching music technology and thrives on sharing his knowledge. He has been steadily updating his knowledge of Ableton, its added features and music technology know how ever since. His approach to teaching uses Ableton or Pro tools at its core and includes topics such as studio equipment, microphones, miking techniques, signal processing, ear training and mixing. In 2015 he also established an independent music mastering service under the name Waves Krāft Mastering which has helped his students and independent artists secure releases on labels worldwide. Hozaifa believes in teaching music production software and its related concepts in a functional way that allows students to grasp and develop their own artistic style of working with technology while nurturing their innate artistic self. He helps students create their sonic identities through techniques of sound design, sampling, synthesis and signal processing. In the past, Hozaifa has had the opportunity to conduct Ableton masterclasses at the Amsterdam Dance Event (Mumbai), work as a product specialist for Ableton at the Palm Expo (Mumbai), and has been invited to conduct workshops at various studio’s running academic programs. He also founded his own Ableton 1-1 mentorship program for music production enthusiasts. For his excellence in teaching, he was awarded the Dronacharya Award for Teachers in Audio Education in 2017 by the IRAA-Indian Recording Arts Awards, and hopes to continue this legacy with GMI.

Manojna Yeluri

A legal professional with a deep appreciation for creative entrepreneurship and the arts, Manojna launched Artistik License in 2013, and has been working with the creative community since.
She is a graduate of the NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, India and the UCLA School of Law, where she specialised in Entertainment, Media and Intellectual Property Law. Manojna has worked with different organisations, within the legal, creative and entrepreneurship eco-system. Prior to founding Artistik License, she worked with one of India’s leading corporate law firms, a pioneering digital legal publishing/education platform, and a policy-research think tank. She also led the content curation team for the Construkt Festival in 2015 – a revolutionary entrepreneurship festival based out of Bangalore, India.
Manojna appreciates the need for greater dialogue between the different stakeholders of the creative economy, and is dedicated towards furthering the same through her work. She also believes in the power of strengthening community and cultural exchange.

Malini Hariharan

Malini Hariharan has over a decade of experience working in a variety of capacities in the music industry in India and abroad. After completing a Masters in Music Business from NYU, she moved back to India and dived straight into the robust Indian music
industry working in a number of capacities across disciplines; as a concert programmer at the iconic blueFROG in Mumbai, as a curator for large scale music festivals like Sulafest, Taj Barn Fest, Emerge (Viacom18), in music publishing at Universal Music Publishing India, as the project manager for Enchantation – A Tribal Music project in Arunachal Pradesh and as an A&R rep for Pragnya Music – A label focussing on Indian music traditions. In New York, Malini had the opportunity to work at Sony Music, The Orchard and helped setup the first So Percussion Summer Institute at Princeton University with So Percussion, one of the leading percussion ensembles from the US.
In 2016, she joined Horus Music, a UK based music distribution company to develop their India business. At Horus Music India, she handles the entire A&R and business development along with publishing and sync for an eclectic roster with their new wing – Anara Publishing. One of the focus areas for the company is to promote the diverse regional and independent music landscape of India and give artistes and labels the right promotional support and guidance to help them find their true place in the constantly evolving digital realm.
Malini also runs her own home-brewed music incubator with her husband Anurag Shanker, a composer. Apart from engaging in arguments, they also engage with fresh ideas for the music industry both in the live and recording sphere. From setting up connections for Indian artistes to take their art forward to curating and organising events that encourage community building.

Voice - Karolina Beimcik

Karolina Beimcik is a talented and skilled jazz singer as well as a classical violinist who has a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance from Queens College New York as well as an MA in Cultural studies from Poland. She has been leading a few important musical projects such as Babooshki, Zoyra and the Karolina Beimcik Quartet with whom she has performed extensively in the USA, and Europe. One of her albums was awarded the album of the year in Japan. She has also received stipends from the Polish Society of Authors and Composers and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Karolina was also selected to the artist residency program of Citizen Artist Incubator in Linz, Austria in 2017.

Piano - Nipun Cheema

Nipun Cheema Pianist & composer Nipun Cheema holds a Masters in Music – Ethnomusicology from Cardiff University. He curates Chandigarh based projects such as Open Hand Jazz Fest, Chd Jazz Fest, ZER013 & The Colab Piano Studio. He performs as a pianist/accordionist with his quartet ‘Song of the Ghetto’ that showcases original compositions and Latin/Balkan folk music, and has also directed and composed for musicals. Nipun completed his Grade 8 Piano ABRSM and studied the accordion at the Conservatorie de la Roche-Sur-Yo in France.

Bass - Devon Hurt

Devon Hurt has been playing and teaching extensively in Boston, having completed his Master of Music in Contemporary Improvisation, New England Conservatory, Boston MA (2017) and Bachelor of Music in Bass Performance, University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Lowell MA (2013), His wildly eclectic tastes allow him to connect with just about anyone who wants to learn. From the aspiring jazz guitarist to the die hard Green Day fan, Devon gives each student the tools and guidance to pursue music with the same excitement and passion that he has.

Jay Pei is a DJ/Producer based in Delhi. His love for music began at the early age of 19 and he has been producing music ever since. In the last 5 years, Jay has been successful in releasing his music on some notable international record labels such as Bullfinch Records, Haute Musique, Liztomania Records among others. In 2015, he released a track called Insignia which was supported by none other than the legendary Richie Hawtin himself.
Jay draws inspiration from a lot of different styles of music and tries to incorporate experimental musical elements in his compositions. A lot of his techniques may seem contradictory to the mainstream, but have led him to find and explore his own unique voice. He uses analogue drum machines and synthesizers to lay down the very foundation of his tracks and uses digital devices to integrate the workflow. One could say that his music comes out from the best of both worlds – analogue & digital.
Taking the listener into a melodic journey of intricately layered harmonies and melancholic sonic textures, his DJ sets are a perfect blend of his own music as well as the music that inspires him to be an artist. Some of his favourites are Recondite, Gardens of God, Tale of Us, Mind Against and Stephen Bodzin.

Arts & Music Studies - Shiv Ahuja

Shiv Ankit Ahuja (b.1989, New Delhi) lives and works in New Delhi, India. He studied at Istituto Europeo Di Design, Madrid (European Master of Fine Art Photography) and Chung Ang University, Seoul (Graduate school of photography).  In 2014, he was an artist-in-residence at the Terra Vivente Art Studio (Guardia Sanframondi, Italy). Shiv also attended the University of Delhi and holds a bachelors degree in Economics. Hindustani Music - Ujwal Nagar

Ujwal Nagar is a Hindustani classical vocalist. He received initial training in classical music from his mother Guru Urmila Nagar and has also received intensive training from Late Ustad Bashir Ahmad Khan of Sikar. He is currently taking guidance from Pandit Shriram Umdekar and Pandit Somnath Mardur. He has performed at numerous cities in India and abroad and was also awarded the Sahitya Kala Parishad and Central Government scholarship by Government of India for his relentless pursuit of Indian classical music. Although a purist at heart, Ujwal has enriched his musical pursuit by exploring various other genres of music as well. Most notably, his ongoing collaborative work with the group ‘Advaita’ has been greatly appreciated by classical music connoisseurs as well as the world music listeners. music production courses.

Voice - Ester Wiesnerova

Ester Wiesnerova is a vocalist, composer, and educator from Slovakia. Currently based in Boston/NYC, Ester has performed her music and led workshops in South Africa, Asia and throughout Europe. Her other achievements include Forbes’ “30 under 30″ award and “the Best Newcomer of the Year” award in the competition New Faces of Slovak Jazz. She was also awarded the highest scholarship available in the Berkolee College of Music Voice Department. Ester is currently a graduate student at the New England Conservatory. She has been recognized for her volunteer activities – organizing fundraising events on behalf of disabled children, concerts in homeless shelters and rest homes, and music workshops. Her long-term plan is to start the first school of jazz and contemporary music in Slovakia.

Guitar - Juancristobal Aliaga

Born in Chile, Juancristobal started playing guitar at the age of 13. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Boston, Juan went on to do Masters in Contemporary Performance from Berklee, Valencia. In 2015, he recorded his first album with his band Cachai?? He has played across festivals such as Recoleta Jazz Festival, Pichidegua Jazz Festival along with playing with artists such as Jiminelson, Rob Haight, Tony Zantino, Fran Suarez Cuarteto del Sur::. Cachai?? will be realising their new album later this year in December

Piano - Alex Correa

Born to a classical pianist, Alex Corrêa got had his first contact with the piano at the age of 5. Alex began his undergraduate studies at Universidade Estadual de Londrina (South of Brazil), which brought him into significant contact with many sound environments, anthropological and philosophical studies, and skills aimed at teaching music. He recorded his first album in 2010, entitled “Sintoma” in partnership with Adauto Dias, Nenê and Arismar do Espírito Santo. Besides being a performer he has also worked as a teacher compounding the faculty of the Conservatory Souza Lima in São Paulo, Brazil. in 2013, Alex was invited to attend a jazz master program in The Netherlands where one year later, he was awarded with the VNO-NCW NOORD TALENT AWARD 2014. As a result of the prize, he was invited to write and perform his original called “SoulBrothers” with the Noord Nederland Orkest.

 

In 2014 he recorded in New York his second album called Gratitude in partnership with Alex Sipiagin, Boris Kozlov and Donald Edwards. Since then Alex has been sharing the stage with many great musicians such as Gene Jackson, Paul Bollenbeck, Dejan Terzic, Christophe Schweizer, Raul de Souza, Gabriel Grossi, Alex Sipiagin, Boris Kozlov, Donald Edwards, as many others.

 

He is currently living in Europe performing and composing with artists and groups around the globe, releasing 3 new projects in 2018: Uno (live recorded in Geneva, piano solo), Duo and Concert for Piano and Universe. Artist, drummer and composer, Tarun Balani’s music has been described as “nothing short of remarkable” (AllAboutJazz, USA) and his debut album, Sacred World has said to “Point to the future of jazz” (Time Out, Magazine, India).

With his much-anticipated record, Dharma, his solo project as Seasonal Affected Beats, and his gripping new collaboration with Sandunes, you’re sure to catch Tarun playing in India, and across the globe.

Piano - Katerina

Katerina is a versatile performer who is trained as a classical pianist and has also completed her Masters in Jazz piano from the Escola Superior de Musica de Lisboa in 2015. Based in Azores, Katerina has been involved in several musical projects and has also worked at the Regional Conservatory and Theatre of Ribeira Grande as a teacher of piano and accompanist. Her original music project for European dances ‘Ledok’ was released in 2016. She also is part of duo ‘Singularlugar’ that is dedicated to the arrangement of the compositions of Portugal authors. Katerina also teaches piano and music at various schools in Estoril. She has toured Brazil for a series of 10 concerts with some leading musicians in Brazil.

Guitar - Fabio Gouvea

Fabio Gouvea Guitarist, composer, and arranger  has been praised for being a musician with a strong melodic approach, a deep harmonic concept, and an uplifting rhythmic feel all characteristics that have made him one of the most in-demand Brazilian artists of his generation. Fabio Gouvea has played with some of the leading musicians in Brazil andabroad, including Scott Colley, Hermeto Pascoal, Luis Perdomo, Hamilton de Holanda, Nailor “Proveta” and Vinicius Dorin, among others. For the past 15 years, Fabio has also been playing, touring, and recording with renowned Grammy nominated band, “Trio Curupira”, alongside Andre Marques and Cleber Almeida. Alongside performing as a sideman with some of the most important artists in the music scene, Fabio is also very active leading his own groups, and has recorded 5 albums in collaboration with such musicians as Donny McCaslin, Helen Sung, John Ellis, Jean Michel Pilc and Rogerio Boccato, among others.

Bass - Felipe Brisola

Felipe Brisola initiated his musical studies at ‘Conservatório Dr. Carlos de Campos’ in Tatuí, earning his degree in Brazilian Popular Music/Jazz in 2005. In 2007 he was invited to join the faculty at the ‘Conservatório’, teaching acoustic and electric bass classes.

 

Felipe has performed extensively alongside some of the best known and most accomplished Brazilian musicians, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Toninho Horta, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Vinícius Dorin, Laércio de Freitas, Mônica Salmaso, Teco Cardoso, Fabio Gouvea, André Marques, Cléber Almeida, Fernando Correa, Lupa Santiago and Edmundo Villani Cortez among others. He has traveled to Spain, Portugal, and Africa performing with singer Flávia Virginia. He also plays extensively with guitarist and composer Fabio Gouvea In 2013, Felipe recorded on André Marques and Vintena Brasileira’s most recent album, ‘Bituca’, honoring the great Brazilian singer Milton Nascimento through inventive and intricate new arrangements of his compositions. Felipe is part of the Trio Afora, original project in collaboration with Alex Kautz and Fabio Gouvea. The group released his first album “Afora” in 2017, and also has played in Brazil, USA, India, & Malaysia.

Voice - Magos Herrera

Based out of New York City, Magos Herrera is a dazzling jazz singer-songwriter, producer, and educator with a 20-year career. Magos is regarded as one of the most expressive, beautiful voices and most active vocalists in the contemporary Latin American jazz scene. She is best known for her eloquent vocal improvisation and her singular bold style, which embraces elements of contemporary jazz with Latin American melodies and rhythms singing in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, in a style that elegantly blends and surpasses language boundaries.

 

Magos has recorded and participated in multiple projects. In the summer of 2013, Magos recorded Dawn, with multiple Grammy winner, producer, and guitarist from Spain, Javier Limón, released in 2014 by Sony’s OKeh Records label.

 

Magos’ career has led her to go on stage around the world, including some of the most memorable venues, such as New York’s Lincoln Center and UN Headquarters, Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, Chicago’s Millennium Park, SFJazz in San Francisco, Teatro de la Ciudad de México and Zocalo in Mexico City, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Sala Galileo Galilei in Madrid, London’s Union Chapel, and Paris’ famous and leading jazz club, Duc des Lombards. Moreover, Magos has participated in leading world jazz festivals, including Montreal’s International Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Barcelona’s International Jazz Festival, and the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Festival, just to mention a handful of the more than 600 forums and international festivals in US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Brazil, Spain, Holland, Switzerland, England, India, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

 

Her album Distancia (2009), earned her a Grammy short-list nomination in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category.

 

Leading Spanish language lifestyle women’s magazine, Siempre Mujer, featured Magos Herrera alongside Michelle Obama in 2011 as one of the Top 10 Women of the Year for her outstanding work as a musical ambassador for Mexican contemporary music.

 

In a first award of its kind presented to a female artist, she received the Berklee College of Music’s Master of Latin Music Award in May 2015 for her contributions to developing and showcasing Latin American music, as well as her own, in a contemporary context around the world.

 

In addition to being one of the finest Latin American jazz vocalists, Magos Herrera is well known for championing women’s causes. She currently serves as spokesperson for UN Women, and has taken an active role in the UNITE campaign to end violence against women and “He for She” to promote gender equality.

 

Currently, in addition to her artistic tours around the world, she produces and hosts a weekly radio program from New York, titled La vuelta a la manzana for Mexico’s Public Radio, (IMER, Instituto Mexicano de la Radio), Horizonte Jazz 107.9 FM, where she shares her joy for music and chats with top artists of the international jazz-world scene the likes of Miguel Zenon, Antonio Sánchez, Peter Eldridge and Dory Caymmi, to mention a few.

Drums - Alex Kautz

Alex Kautz best known for his musicality, groove, and a profound understanding of a variety of styles, percussionist, educator and composer Alex Kautz has found a unique musical voice as a result of his passion for jazz and world music. Alex has been an important part of the NY competitive music scene for the last decade and has played and/or recorded with some of the top artists in the industry today including Tim Ries, John Patittucci, Jon Cowherd, Nilson Matta, Steve Willson, Lenny Andrade, Chico Pinheiro, Fabio Gouvea, Adam Rogers, Helio Alves, Victor Prieto, Lionel Loueke, and Tim Hagans to name a few. Alex has also led his own groups where he explores the sounds and textures of Brazilian music mixed with jazz and he is currently working on his first solo album. A Magna Cum Laude graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Alex received the “Best Achievement merit Scholarship” while attending the prestigious institution in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. He later received a full scholarship award from Mexico’s National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) to study a Masters of Arts Degree in Aaron Copland School of Music in New York.

 

As an active educator since 2001, Alex has been an important part of the artistic community in different countries including USA, Mexico, and Brazil teaching private lessons as well as master classes.

Music Production - Jay Pei

Jay Pei is a DJ/Producer based in Delhi. His love for music began at the early age of 19 and he has been producing music ever since. In the last 5 years, Jay has been successful in releasing his music on some notable international record labels such as Bullfinch Records, Haute Musique, Liztomania Records among others. In 2015, he released a track called Insignia which was supported by none other than the legendary Richie Hawtin himself.

Jay draws inspiration from a lot of different styles of music and tries to incorporate experimental musical elements in his compositions. A lot of his techniques may seem contradictory to the mainstream, but have led him to find and explore his own unique voice. He uses analogue drum machines and synthesizers to lay down the very foundation of his tracks and uses digital devices to integrate the workflow. One could say that his music comes out from the best of both worlds – analogue & digital.

Taking the listener into a melodic journey of intricately layered harmonies and melancholic sonic textures, his DJ sets are a perfect blend of his own music as well as the music that inspires him to be an artist. Some of his favourites are Recondite, Gardens of God, Tale of Us, Mind Against and Stephen Bodzin.

Jay is constantly producing new music for his live sets and forthcoming releases.

Voice - Luiza Sales

Luiza Sales is a singer and songwriter from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. She has already performed in Europe, Brazil, US and India and has three albums released: “Breve Leveza” (2012), produced by Dan Garcia of Radio Hill Records from Los Angeles, “Aventureira” (2015) and “Versos do Capitão” (2017) in duo with the pianist Pedro Carneiro Silva. Luiza was a member of the a cappella group Ordinarius with whom she recorded and released two albums: “Ordinarius” (2012) and “Rio de Choro” (2015). With Ordinarius, Luiza toured in Germany in 2013 and also won the Brazilian national competition of vocal groups promoted by Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in 2015. In 2016, in India for the first time, Luiza performed at Sofar Sounds Delhi NCR, The Gig Week, DIY Day and also released a video as part of the Kintsugi Singles project. Her music is also featured in two compilations of Brazilian music released in Japan by Rambling Records: “Coffee & Novos Compositores” and “Outro Som”. Luiza is the creator of the video series Meninas do Brasil, with music videos and interviews to promote the work of female singer-songwriters, fighting for more visibility of women in music. The project has featured 34 artists from different states of Brazil and it’s now releasing videos shot in Berlin, presenting women from 6 different countries.

Piano - Pedro Carneiro Silva

Pedro Carneiro Silva is a musician from Rio de Janeiro. In recent years he has developed projects in partnership with artists from different parts of the world and has been conducting concerts and workshops throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil.

He has released two albums so far –  “Água Verde” (2017) and “Versos do Capitão” (2017), with the singer-songwriter Luiza Sales. He also develops the project “Free Seat”, with the Iranian-German filmmaker Ardalan Aram. With the message “Art connects us to feeling, feeling connects us”, the project gained great visibility in social media – the main video was seen by more than half a million people just 2 weeks after its release.

Pedro Carneiro Silva holds a degree in Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), with a degree in arrangement from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), and a master’s degree in Piano / Jazz from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML).

Bass- Andrea Fraenzel

Andrea Fraenzel is an experienced acoustic and electric bass player who graduated from Berklee Valencia. She was the first student from Austria to be accepted into the Contemporary Performance Master’s Program. She was also invited to play with Victor Mendoza and Steve Houghton in Taiwan and toured with Christiane Karam in Spain. In July 2014, Berklee College of Music honoured her efforts and achievements by presenting her with the ‘Outstanding Scholar Award’. As a freelance artist, she enjoys working within a wide range of styles that include pop, rock, indie, classical and contemporary music, folk, world, blues, jazz and improvised music. With approximately 100 performances in a year at festivals and clubs, Andrea is a highly sought after bassist. She is also a dedicated educator who has taught at various music academies in Austria.

Constants and Variables (EP) won him Best Pop Artist at the Radio City Freedom Awards ’15 and has been listed among the Top 10 EP’s of 2015 by Rolling Stone India. Aditya is an Ableton Certified Trainer and he constantly strives to bring innovative teaching methodologies for his songwriting and music production courses.

Voice - Luiza Sales

Luiza is a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Rio de Janeiro. First brazilian musician to hold a Masters Degree in Contemporary Performance at Berklee College of Music, with a full scholarship, at Valencia Campus. She released her first album, “Breve Leveza” in 2012, produced by Dan Garcia – who had previously worked with artists like Rod Stewart, Al DiMeola and David Crosby.

Guitar - Antonio Molina Moya

Tony Molina is a guitar player and teacher from Granada (Spain). He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in jazz guitar as well as a Master’s Degree in film scoring at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Currently, he co-leads the Dutch modern rock trio Supertrawler and the Spanish blues/rock project Elemento Deserto. He also works as a sideman for several different bands in The Netherlands and Spain, including the projects of modern jazz pianist Julian Schneeman or the singer/songwriter Julia Oschewsky. In 2015, he won the Sena Young Talent Guitar Award, possibly the most prestigious distinction for electric guitar players in The Netherlands.

Piano - Aman Mahajan

Aman Mahajan is a pianist, composer and bandleader, who plays improvised music across a diversity of musical idioms. Having worked with musicians of a wide variety of nationalities, cultural backgrounds and musical styles, Mahajan is interested in improvisation as a medium of exploration and communication, in addition to its relevance in more traditional art forms. A graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston), Mahajan is presently based in Bangalore, India, where he leads original improvised music ensemble Refuge. His music is influenced by traditional and contemporary music from around the world, and deeply inspired by a sense of unity and connection.

Bass - Ayal Tsubery

Ayal Tsubery is an accomplished musician, whose distinctive and virtuosic style has been widely acknowledged. In 2007 Ayal was granted scholarship from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, he was selected to represent the Berklee Bass department in its annual concerts, as well as study with Hal Crook, Oscar Stagnaro (Bassist for Paquito D’rivera), Alain Mallet (pianist for Paul Simon). In addition to his role as a student in Berklee, Ayal was hired to be an accompanist for regular classes, and masterclasses. Ayal has been performing regularly in the most legendary NYC venues and music festivals. His compositions were featured in award winning short films, nationwide radio live broadcasts, and countless live performances.

Ayal’s playing and compositions can be heard on various albums including ‘Practicing Catharsys’ by Eyal Hai, ‘The Path of Silvan’ by Dimitrije Vasiljevic, ‘Upside Down’ by Tipsy Oxcart along with his critically acclaimed debut album as a bandleader ‘Decisions’
