GMI reserves the right to revise, add to, or amend these policies, rules, and procedures at any time. Since it is not possible for us to foresee all situations that may arise, GMI reserves the right to make exceptions from established policies, rules, procedures, and practices if, in its sole judgment, such deviation is justified based on the facts of the particular situation.

 

A. ADMISSIONS

 

A1. REGISTRATION & JOINING FORMALITIES

All students are required to adhere to the joining formalities as shared with them by the Admissions Office prior to the start of the term. Registration is for new students and you will need to fill up required set of forms and furnish documents that are required from you.

 

B. PROGRAMS

 

B1. WITHDRAWAL FROM THE PROGRAM

Any student who wishes to withdraw from the Institute for any reason must inform the Institute in writing of the same. A follow up meeting will be held with the Academics & Admissions office and you will be further notified.

 

B2. REFUND POLICY

Once the registration process is complete, the fee of the program cannot be refunded. In case of emergency, ill health or any unforeseen circumstances, please contact GMI administration. The administration will make its best effort to assist the student in its capacity, but will not be responsible to refund tuition or re-schedule lessons.

 

C. STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

 

C1. Students enrolled at GMI must assume an obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the ethos of GMI as an educational institution. Each student’s attitude and behavior must conform to the standards inherently necessary to advance educational processes and activities.

 

D. POLICIES

 

D1. GAMBLING, SMOKING, DRUGS, ALCOHOL & WEAPONS

Students are expected to comply with the standard stipulated laws relating to the use of alcohol, drugs and weapons. GMI supports all national laws pertaining to drug and alcohol use, sale and distribution. Regardless of age, no one may drink from or possess alcohol on the Institute’s premises. The use, sale, possession, or distribution of drugs and alcohol by students or to students anywhere on the Institute’s property or at GMI events are prohibited.

Smoking and use of tobacco is prohibited on the Institute’s premises. Possessing a concealed or unconcealed firearm, weapon, or other hazardous material is forbidden on GMI grounds.

No gambling of any kind shall be permitted on the campus. Students who violate the Institute’s rules on the use, possession, and sale of drugs, alcohol, smoking, weapons and gambling will be disciplined as per established disciplinary policies and procedures including but not limited to suspension, expulsion, and referral for prosecution.

Entering the campus premises in an intoxicated state will also lead to disciplinary action.

 

D2. NON DISCRIMINATION, HARASSMENT & ANTI RAGGING

Any forms of discrimination or harassment, based on race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or any Another characteristic protected by applicable law, is strictly prohibited. Any member of GMI who believes that he/she has been harassed may first attempt to resolve the problem through discussion with the other party. When discussing the problem with that person would present particular stress or difficulties, the complainant has the right to consult with a GMI for assistance with the resolution of the problem. If the problem is not resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant through the informal process, she or he has the right to file a formal complaint in writing. A complainant has the right to institute formal proceedings without first availing himself or herself of the informal procedure. Upon receiving the written response from the charged party, GMI will attempt to resolve the situation through discussion, investigation, or other steps the institution feels is necessary.

GMI recognises that all individuals involved in processing the complaint may want their identity to remain confidential. However, issues of confidentiality must be balanced against the institution’s need to process the complaint and to resolve the problem. Ragging is a criminal and non-bailable offense. Ragging or abetment to ragging in any form is totally banned within the premises of the Institute, its Hostels/Departments/Campus grounds. Any violation will be dealt with as per the existing laws.

 

D3. INTEGRITY AND HONESTY

Students are expected to maintain high standards of honesty and practice throughout the many aspects of their life and study at the institute. Any kind of fraud, cheating or plagiarism is strictly prohibited. In case any declaration or information furnished by the student in his/her application for or otherwise as part of the joining formalities, is found to be wrong or incorrect or if it is found that the student has wilfully withheld information, or if student is evidenced of academic dishonesty, he/she may be made subject to disciplinary procedures including but not limited to: receiving a warning; receiving a lowered or failing grade for the exam, or other class or homework; receiving a lowered or failing grade for the course; suspension or permanent dismissal from the Institute.

 

D4. POLICY ON CONSENSUAL RELATIONS

As an educational set-up, GMI does not encourage any form of consensual relations amongst its members – staff / teachers / students. In addition to creating the potential for coercion, any such relationship jeopardizes the integrity of the educational process by creating a conflict of interest and may impair the learning environment. Such situations may expose GMI and the member to liability for violation of laws against sexual harassment and sexual discrimination.
Therefore, one must avoid sexual relationships with any other member of the institute regardless of whether the relationship is consensual. Staff/faculty member/teachers or Students with questions about this policy are advised to consult with GMI management. Violations of the above policies will normally lead to disciplinary action.

 

GMI reserves the right to change any of the policies, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct at any time as may be necessary in the interest of the Institute. GMI also reserves the right to modify or discontinue any of the services, programs, or activities described in this handbook. GMI reserves the right to your admission, enrolment, scholarship and progression in each program.

 

While effort will be made by the Institute, the Institute shall not be held responsible for the safety and security of personnel or belongings. The Institute provides the information herein solely for the convenience of the reader and, to the extent permissible by law, expressly disclaims any liability, which may otherwise be incurred.
