Masterclass: Symbiotic Relationship between the Western and Indian classical traditions by Dr Rupert Avis

The session will explore the symbiotic relationship between Western and Indian classical traditions. The Western classical tradition is often distanced from the Indian classical traditions, yet this overlooks important points of symbiosis in the history of these traditions. Drawing on the work of significant scholars in the field, Rupert will provide an overview of this history and encourage more nuanced understanding. Musical examples included!
